Mar 12, 2024 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM - Tikitu Taiao: Introducing NZAC’s new climate response CPD | Professional Development webinar

Join us for an enlightening webinar as we present NZAC's new Continuing Professional Development (CPD) competency, "Climate change and  Te Taiao, the natural environment; What climate change means for the counselling profession: impacts, effects and responses”.

Developed by the Tikitu Taiao - NZAC's counselling, climate change and the environment working party group, this new competency aligns seamlessly with the 2023 NZAC strategic plan, reflecting NZAC’s commitment to addressing the urgent challenges posed by climate change.

As climate change reshapes the counselling landscape in Aotearoa, NZAC recognises the need for a proactive response. This competency will support you on your own journey to respond to the ongoing and sometimes devastating impacts of climate change, both personally and for clients, whānau, communities and supervisees.

Whilst engaging in this vital area of CPD, you might choose to focus on any of the following areas; impacts such as loss and anxiety, engage in climate action for mitigation, building resilience, adaptation, upskilling in post-disaster counselling responses in communities. You may consider therapeutic models like Indigenous and Ecological Therapies, guided by Te Tiriti O Waitangi, acknowledging Papatuanuku/Nature as a healer.

Join us as we discuss how you might engage with this CPD competency and discover how this competency area can inspire you to set meaningful goals and utilise reflective processes, to support your ongoing professional development. The Tikitu Taiao Counselling, climate change and the environment working party group will also share their own examples of engaging with the new CPD competency.

This webinar will be hosted by Tikitu Taiao working party group members Niccy Fraser, Sarah Wright, Des Casey, Rangi Davis. Raynor Huia joins as working party executive liason. We are looking forward to meeting with you!
