Committees


NZAC Committees and Working Groups

NZAC has four National Committees and a Continuing Professional Development Audit Team which administer specific organisational and operational matters for the association. There are also working groups created to develop strategic directions. At this time NZAC has a School Counsellors Advisory Group, a Counselling, Climate Change and the Environment Working Group (CCCE) - Tikitu Taiao, and Te Rōpū Ānga Whakamua - Governance and Constitution Working Party.
 

Education Committee

The Education Committee consists of 4 members, a minimum of 2 members from Te Rōpū Māori and including one member from the National Executive.

The purpose of this committee is to:

  • Maintain and update a written set of standards for counsellor education in Aotearoa / New Zealand.

  • Liaise with Te Ahi Kaa, the membership, other committees, counsellor education providers and relevant tertiary approval agencies to maintain agreed standards.

  • Provide advice, support and direction for new and existing counsellor education programmes.

Supervision Committee

The Supervision Committee consists of 6 members, a minimum of 2 members from Te Rōpū Māori and including one member from the National Executive.

The purpose of this committee is to:

  • Promote professional supervision and supervision education among NZAC members.

  • Make policy recommendations relating to supervision to the National Executive.


Ethics Committee

The Ethics Committee consists of 8 members, a minimum of 2 members from Te Rōpū Māori and including one member from the National Executive


The purpose of this committee is to:

  • Support the work of the Association through consultation about the NZAC processes and actions from an ethical perspective.

  • Make policy recommendations regarding ethical issues to the National Executive.

  • Promote education about ethical practice.

  • To establish and maintain regional processes for the provision of information and support to complainants and respondents.

  • Process complaints brought against Members and Provisional Members.

  • Report regularly to the National Executive and annually to the Annual General Meeting.

  • Such other tasks as may be delegated to it by the National Executive.

The Membership Committee consists of 8 members, a minimum of 2 members from Te Rōpū Māori and including one member from National Executive.


The purpose of this committee is to:

  • Assess applications.

  • Make policy recommendations regarding membership issues to the National Executive.


Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Audit team

The Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Audit team consists of 4 members, a minimum of 2 members from Te Rōpū Māori. The team audit 10% of members' CPD every year.



Rainbow Caucus

The National Executive is coordinating the establishment of a Rainbow Caucus. This will provide a platform for NZAC members who support Rainbow clients to connect. The Caucus will meet throughout the year (on-line and in-person).
